With the help of Viatur, I was able to pull off the perfect proposal. Everything about the proposal was absolutely amazing! For my now fiancé, it was always her dream to get proposed to, while on a vacation. So when we planned to go on a Peru tour, I knew it was the perfect place to surprise her being that it is an amazingly beautiful country.

I thought, what can I do to make it super special. Granted, the location alone is great but what could make it even grander? So I reached out to my tour consultant at Viatur and she offered to coordinate for me all the details that I needed.

She suggested a romantic picnic setup, a spa massage prior to the special moment to make sure we were relaxed (especially me) a professional photographer and videographer to capture the proposal and a romantic dinner after the magic moment.

Viatur, based in Los Angeles, which mainly focuses on arranging fully escorted tours around the world, was very instrumental in making my proposal epic. We reside in Florida so we flew to Lima, then directly over to Cusco. We enjoyed a few days there with ATVs and horseback riding tours with spectacular views of the Andean Mountains, then we took the Vista Dome train to Aguascalientes to go to the spectacular Machu Picchu (what an incredible place!) After a couple of nights of soaking in the magic of Machu Picchu we took the train back down to the gorgeous Sacred Valley.

In Sacred Valley, we stayed at a superb 5-start luxury resort. I decided to upgrade and splurge on those 2 nights because it was going to be the location of the proposal.

Viatur arranged for us to have a couple’s massage that included champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. After the incredible massage, we headed back to the hotel room to shower and get ready for an early dinner. I had to give her a specific time because our photographer suggested the “golden hour” for best pictures. To be honest this was the most challenging moment, getting her to be ready on time! I had to be firm and told her, “Please be ready, because I have a surprise for you”.

We finally went out through our room’s patio doors to the stunning view of Sacred Valley. We walked through a path that led us to the arranged picnic area surrounded with sunflowers (her favorite flowers) tea light candles, a bottle of champagne, a cheese platter, Peruvian textiles, pillows and a collection of pictures from our years together.

When she saw the set-up, her surprised face was unforgettable and tears of joy started rolling down her beautiful face, which made me so incredibly happy.

I kneeled and asked her to marry me. She screamed YES! 

A few seconds later, Viatur had arranged for Peruvian Andean musicians to play music for us and that made it even more magical, as we watched the sunset.

Family is everything for us; so when I decided to propose and informed the families of my plans, we arranged for them to join (after the moment) to surprise her.

Therefore, shortly after, while the photographer was taking our pictures, our parents came from behind and surprised her. She was ecstatic with joy to see her mom and sister. It was truly a remarkable moment in our lives and I feel blessed that we were able to share it with our parents. Viatur arranged for them to be traveling and enjoying Peru, without running into each other and ruin the surprise. Needless to say, I don’t think I could have possibly pulled off nearly as seamless proposal without Viatur’s help.

Viatur organized everyone’s travels based on preferences and budget, the proposal arrangements and even an engagement photo shoot the following day in the beautiful city of Cusco. I couldn’t be more grateful for Viatur’s help because at the end of the day, like the saying goes: Happy wife, Happy Life!
